he collection of the Textile Museum in Tanah Abang, West Jakarta, has grown to comprise 2,500 pieces of traditional cloth, turning the site into one of the favorite places in the capital for women, an official says.
The head of the Textile Museum's service unit, Sari Permana, said that the collection included various traditional cloths like batik, tenun (woven fabric), songket (gold-threaded woven fabric), sasaringan of South Kalimantan and tapis of Lampung.
“Tourists, particularly foreign ones, are keen to see the traditional cloth collection,” said Sari as quote by beritajakarta.com on Wednesday.
She said that the number of visitors in 2015 totaled 60,086, while in the following year it increased to 61,192.
“This year, by June, the number of visitors reached 34,876,” she added. (agn)
