oreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi has been scheduled to have a number of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting (AMM) in Manila, the Philippines, on Saturday.

Retno is expected to meet with her counterparts from Vietnam, South Korea, Sri Lanka and Australia for talks on various bilateral issues.

On Friday, Retno met with Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, after which she said they talked about preparations for the upcoming leaders' retreat and bilateral consultation forum in the island-nation scheduled for September.

This year, Indonesia and Singapore are celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations.

Last week, Retno revealed she would meet with her Vietnamese counterpart, Pham Binh Minh, to discuss a recent maritime spat in which Vietnam accused Indonesian authorities of attacking Vietnamese fishermen in the South China Sea.

As Indonesia has denied the accusation, Retno told the Post she was looking to settle discrepancies in the data Vietnam has.

Retno is in Manila to attend a series of events under the banner of the AMM, which also includes key regional security forums like the ASEAN Regional Forum and the East Asia Summit foreign ministers' meeting.

The week-long event will culminate in commemorative activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of ASEAN. (bbs)
