n odd-even license plate policy at the Cikampek toll road connecting Jakarta with Bekasi in West Java will be applied in the morning, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., during a trial run next week, Greater Jakarta Transportation Body (BPTJ) head Bambang Prihartono said as quoted by kompas.com on Wednesday.
The policy, to be applied from the West Bekasi toll road to the Semanggi toll road, was made to reduce heavy traffic congestion along the toll road.
It stipulates that only vehicles with license plates ending in odd digits are permitted to use the road on odd dates, while plates ending in even digits can only use the road on even dates.
Meanwhile, in an effort to reduce traffic, state-owned toll road operator PT Jasa Marga plans to limit the operational time of logistics trucks taking the toll road.
“Jasa Marga is currently formulating the plan, which will be handed over to the government,” Jasa Marga spokesperson Dwimawan Heru Santoso said in a statement. (vny)
