hree top positions at the Transportation Ministry are vacant following the arrest of sea transportation director general Antonius Tonny Budiono by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Wednesday.
Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said the vacancies did not affect the performance of his ministry, including infrastructure development projects under the ministry’s supervision.
Earlier, Pudji Hartanto resigned from his position as land transportation director general, while Budi Cahyono was dismissed from his position as railway director general.

“We have many teams that we can rely on. Neither ongoing projects nor planning [for upcoming projects] are affected,” he added, as reported by kontan.co.id.
He said he would assess officials that could be appointed as land transportation director general and railway director general.
“For sea transportation, we will soon appoint an acting official,” the minister said, adding that the permanent sea transportation director general would be discussed later, pending the KPK investigation.
Budi Karya declined to comment further on the arrest of Antonius, stressing that the KPK had not provided him with detailed information. (bbn)
