T

he Indonesian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that no Indonesian nationals in the state of Texas have been affected by Hurricane Harvey and the massive floods that are engulfing Houston.

The Foreign Ministry's Indonesian citizen protection director Lalu Muhamad Iqbal said the Indonesian Consulate General in Houston was monitoring the situation closely. He said the consulate reports that no Indonesians have fallen victim to the natural disaster.

"So far, there are no reports of Indonesians falling victim to this disaster," Lalu said in a statement.

The consulate general issued orders for Indonesian nationals in Texas to heed the evacuation orders made by local authorities.

Massive flooding unleashed by Harvey left Houston -- the fourth-largest city in the United States -- increasingly isolated on Sunday. The city’s airports and highways have shut down and residents are being rescued from their inundated homes by boat, Agence France-Presse reports.

The city's two main airports have suspended all commercial flights and two hospitals were forced to evacuate patients. A local television station was also knocked off air.

At least three people have been killed so far, with reports of other fatalities still unconfirmed.
