ndonesia and Singapore on Thursday signed three memorandums of understanding (MoU), one technical arrangement and one framework for heads of agreement (HoA) at the official residence of Singapore's President on Thursday.

The agreements focused on education, digital economy and energy.

The first MoU signed on Thursday deals with the exchange of visiting scholars between the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Indonesian Research, Technology and Higher Education Ministry.

The second, which deals with digital economy, will allow for a cooperation on skills training program between Singapore Polytechnic and the Indonesian Research, Technology and Higher Education Ministry, supported by the Temasek Foundation International.

The third agreement deals with  technical arrangement on a capacity building program in industrial technical and vocational education and training between Singapore's Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and the Indonesia's Industry Ministry.

The fourth agreement provides foundation for student exchange programs between students of the two countries. The fifth agreement concerns a framework HoA on liquefied natural gas (LNG) swap and small scale LNG infrastructure project between Pavilion Gas, Keppel Singmarine and Indonesian state-owned electricity firm PLN.

After a bilateral meeting on Thursday, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong are expected to witness the signing of the agreements. Jokowi was in his one-day official visit to the country. (bbn)
