Indonesia the only Southeast Asian country with pieces of Berlin Wall: Ambassador

erman Ambassador to Indonesia Michael von Ungern-Stenberg said the four pieces of the Berlin Wall installed at Kalijodo Park in North Jakarta might be the only pieces of the wall found in Southeast Asia.
Stenberg said the pieces from Germany’s historic Berlin Wall had been spread across many countries all over the world since the fall of the wall in 1989.
The wall once divided East Germany from West Germany.
“Only a few Asian countries have pieces of the wall and I think in Southeast Asia, the wall’s pieces can only be found here [in Indonesia],” he said at Kalijodo Park on Tuesday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Artist Teguh Ostenrik donated the pieces to the Jakarta administration to remind citizens about the importance of maintaining unity despite differences.
The wall’s pieces were installed on Tuesday afternoon as part of an art installation entitled Patung Menembus Batas (Sculpture Beyond Boundaries). (vny)
