akartans should be prepared to experience drastic changes in weather, even including hail, during the transition period into the rainy season between October and November, an official has said.
“The hail may occur during the early rainy season,” said Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Information sub-division head Hary Tirto Djatmiko on Monday.
According to BMKG, on Sunday, a 30 minute hail storm occurred in Depok, West Java in the afternoon.
Hary explained that hail could be predicted to occur when temperatures were very warm at night, the next morning and during the day. Then, in the afternoon, there would be a mass of white cumulonimbus clouds that would quickly turn dark.
“The rain will be heavy, followed by strong winds,” Hary said as quoted by kompas.com.
To deal with the season transition, Hary suggested citizens and the administration prepare for fallen trees, and other falling objects such as billboards. (syl)
