Fire breaks out at Depok mall, apartment building

fire broke out at Cinere Bellevue Mall, which is integrated with a 20-story apartment building, in Cinere, Depok, West Java, on Wednesday night at around 8:30 pm.
Depok Fire and Rescue Agency head Yayan Aryanto said that although firefighters extinguished the fire before midnight, the fire broke out again at 5 a.m. in the generator room on the P-2 floor, razing the Hypermart store on the P-3 floor.
Yayan said the officers evacuated visitors and residents of the apartment who were trapped because of thick smoke after midnight.
He said the fire was caused by a short circuit in the generator.
No casualties were reported in the fire.
Eight fire engines were deployed to the location, as well as one rescue car. (dis)
