o expedite the registering and printing of electronic ID cards for Jakarta citizens, the Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Agency (Dukcapil) has set up a booth at the Nusantara Expo in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) cultural park, East Jakarta.
Residents who have yet to receive a Jakarta e-ID are required to bring their subdistrict recommendation letters, as well as the original copy and a photocopy of their family cards.
Meanwhile, those who have already registered and have a “print ready record” status can get their e-IDs printed at the site, wartakota.tribunnews.com reported.
The service runs from Oct. 18 to 22 and has attracted hundreds of Jakartans every day, with residents lining up at the booth from 6 a.m.
The e-ID corruption case — in which Golkar Party chairman Setya Novanto was a suspect — has hampered the process of distributing e-IDs in the country, including the capital city.
Based on the agency’s data, 7 million of 7.72 million Jakarta citizens have their e-ID cards. (vny)
