bout 1,500 businesspeople from 25 countries are expected to attend the 13th Indonesian Palm Oil Conference (IPOC) and 2018 Price Outlook in Nusa Dua, Bali, from Nov. 1 to 3.
“The topics to be discussed at the conference include issues of sustainability and relations between companies and farmers,” IPOC 2017 chairwoman Mona Surya said in a statement issued on Monday.
Most of the attending businesspeople represented firms producing various products related to crude palm oil (CPO), Mona added.
The conference, set to be opened by Coordinating Economic Minister Darmin Nasution, will also be attended by several other ministers, including Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman, Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita and Agrarian and Spatial Planning Minister Sofyan Djalil.
The organizers will provide booths for those wishing to display their products at the event, Mona added.
“As many as 96 of the 98 booths have been booked,” said Mona said, adding that the IPOC had attracted many visitors this year, because people from across the globe were paying serious attention to the palm oil business.
“Many of the foreign speakers have spoken at previous IPOC events, but there will also be several new faces,” Mona said.
The foreigners scheduled to speak at the event include James Fry of LMC International Ltd of Britain, Rasheed Janmohammad of the Pakistan Edible Oil Refiners Association (PEORA) as well as Dorab Mistry from UK-based Godrej International Ltd. (bbn)
