View all search resultsollowing an explosion at a fireworks factory in Tangerang, Banten that has claimed 23 lives, a minister has said he will impose sanctions on the factory’s owner for alleged negligence.
Manpower Minister Hanif Dhakiri said on Thursday that the explosion may have occurred because of a lack of safe operating procedures at the factory.
“The toughest sanction could be the revocation of their business license,” Hanif said.
The explosion took place around 9 a.m. and left 23 people dead, while 43 sustained burn injuries. Another 37 people are missing, the Jakarta Police said previously.
The police are investigating the cause of the explosion.
