irline passengers are now allowed to weigh their own baggage and check in themselves at Terminal 1C of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten.
“The facility will also be placed in other terminals,” said branch communication manager of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Haerul Anwar as reported by kompas.com on Tuesday.
Passengers who use the facility can immediately head to the boarding areas as they do not need to line up at the check-in counters, he added.
With the service, passengers only need to weigh their belongings and wait for the baggage tags before their luggage is handed over to airport staff.
As it is only available at Terminal 1C, the service is only for passengers of Batik Air and Citilink for now. “We are waiting for other airlines to get ready before implementing the technology [at other terminals],” Haerul added. (bbn)
