he government is preparing a new policy package specifically for the export and import business sectors, an official with the Office of the Coordinating Economic Minister has said on Monday.
“Pak Darmin and Pak President have constantly pushed us to issue an import-export policy. It will likely become the 16th policy package,” special staffer Edy Putra Irawady said in Jakarta as reported by kontan.co.id.
The new package would include scrapping the requirement for raw material importers to obtain a recommendation from the related ministry, Edy said.
“We need to facilitate industry in acquiring raw materials,” he stressed, saying that with such a policy, the industry sector would grow more rapidly to better support export growth.
“We cannot disrupt the supply chain for raw materials, particularly for manufacturing products that are intended for export,” Edy said.
The raw materials policy, however, would not be implemented for consumer goods that required a pre-distribution period, he added. (bbn)
