he police have found a crack in the wall of an underpass that was blocked by a landslide on Jl. Perimeter Selatan, near Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, in Tangerang, Banten, on Monday. One motorist who was trapped in the landslide died the next day after being treated at a hospital.
“We found the crack on the left side of the wall. One of the laboratory workers said he saw it,” said Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Police chief Sr. Comr. Akhmad Yusep Gunawan on Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.
However, no further information on the cause of the crack was revealed by officials from the National Police forensics laboratory center, Yusep added.
The police and the forensics team would continue to analyze the underpass wall, he said.
On Monday evening, a landslide hit the underpass wall after heavy downpour fell over the area, causing a car carrying passengers to be trapped underneath dirt and debris.
One of the passengers, Dianti Dyah Ayu Cahyani, passed away on Tuesday after being treated at a hospital, while another passenger of the same car, Mutmainah, is recovering. The two were rescued after being trapped in the car for 12 hours. (wnd)
