S

tate-owned energy company Pertamina has increased the prices of several non-subsidized fuels since Saturday: the Pertamax and Pertamax Turbo gasoline brands, as well as the Pertamina Dex and Dexlite diesel brands.

Pertamina announced on its website that the price of Pertamax per liter was increased to Rp 8,900 (62 US cents) from Rp 8,600, while the price of Pertamax Turbo per liter was increased to Rp 10,000 from Rp 9,600.

Meanwhile, the price of Pertamina Dex per liter was raised to Rp 10,000 from Rp 9,250 and the price of Dexlite per liter to Rp 8,100 from Rp 7,500.

Pertamina vice president of corporate communication Adiatma Sardjito, as quoted by kontan.co.id on on Monday, explained that the company needed to raise the fuel prices because of the increase in crude oil prices.

According to a survey of the Indonesia Oil Price Team, the crude oil brent price rose by US$4.99 per barrel from $64.19 per barrel in December 2017 to $69.18 per barrel in January 2018.

The price of ICE Brent crude oil increased by $4.99 per barrel from $64.09 per barrel to $69.08 per barrel, while the price of WTI light sweet crude on the New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) increased by $5.72 per barrel from $57.95 per barrel to $63.67 per barrel.

Adiatma said the price of Pertalite gasoline per liter had been increased in early February to Rp 7,600 from Rp 7,500 per liter. (bbn).
