View all search resultstate Logistics Agency (Bulog) plans to import 100,000 tons of buffalo meat this year, including to anticipate the increasing demand for meat during Ramadhan.
Bulog procurement director Andrianto Wahyu Adi said on Thursday that the agency had obtained an import permit from the Trade Ministry and that the tender bid for the commodity would start in March.
The buffalo meat import would be carried out gradually with the arrival of 20,000 tons before Ramadhan, he added.
“7,000 tons of imported buffalo meat will arrive each month,” Andrianto said recently as quoted by kontan.co.id.
He said the meat was designed to arrive gradually to maintain the quality of the meet before it was distributed to the market.
“The meat quality will decrease if its kept too long,” he said.
All 100,000 tons of buffalo meet was expected to arrive by the end of the year, he added. (dpk/bbn)
