In the political and security field, Indonesia offered the Contact Group of Peace and Conflict Resolution as a common platform to identify and formulate ways to respond to various security and peace challenges, initially tabled at the March 2016 extraordinary summit in Jakarta.
Fachir also proposed an Indonesian initiative to set up development centers for vaccine and biotechnology products.
Indonesia also proposed a resolution on the Bogor Message, the results of a just-concluded High Level Consultation of World Muslim Scholars on Wassatiyat Islam.
Fachir also called on OIC members to cooperate in the spirit of Islamic brotherhood to handle various humanitarian issues in Palestine, Myanmar, Yemen and Syria. The ministerial meeting resulted in the Dhaka Declaration focusing on Palestine issues.
