T

he security alert at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang regency, Banten, remains at Siaga 1, which is the highest level, following a wave of terror attacks in Indonesia over the past few days.

The Jakarta Police have deployed 10 teams to secure the terminals and Transit Oriented Development (TOD) building.

They have also intensified their monitoring of the curbside, non-terminal buildings and terminal parking lot building.

The police are being assisted by 4,020 joint personnel of Aviation Security (AvSec), the military operational control aid (BKO) and security guards.

All activities are being monitored by 1,900 CCTV cameras installed in the airport.

“We are united in the fight against terrorism and are conducting walking patrols along the curbside, non-terminal and office buildings near the entry and exit gates,” Tommy Hadi Bawono, the senior manager of aviation security rescue and fire fighting at the airport, said in a statement on Thursday.

The airport operator was also in communication with other institutions to secure the air so it would be clean and clear for planes, Tommy added.

“We will monitor the parking spaces before planes arrive and take off and intensify our monitoring of the loading and unloading of cargo,” he said.
