ndonesia was ousted by host Thailand from the 2018 Uber Cup women’s badminton championship after losing 3-2 in the quarterfinals in Bangkok on Thursday.

Three-time title holder Indonesia stood on wobbly legs after its opening player Fitriani failed to make a score, losing 21-8 and 21-7 to world number-four Ratchanok Intanon.

Doubles pair Greysia Polii and Apriani Rahayu however made it to 1-1 defeating Rawinda Prajongjai and Jongkolphan Kititharakul 21-11 and 21-16.

Greysia said after the match that the pair managed to show their best as they were motivated to contribute a win for the team.

Deployed in the third match, Gregoria Mariska shut down the home crowd after beating world number-11 Nitchaon 21-10 and 22-20, giving Indonesia a 2-1 lead.

Unfortunately the positive trend was not followed by Indonesia’s shuttlers in the two remaining matches.

Doubles pair Della Destiara Haris and Rizki Amelia Pradipta bowed down to Putitta Supajirakul and Sapsiree Taerattanachai 22-20 and 21-12, while deciding player Ruselli Hartawan lost 21-9 and 21-12 to Busanan Ongbamrungphan.
