Anggun said the police were still investigating the teenagers’ identities. Along with the arrests, the police had also seized three sickles.

IA and MF were arrested, Anggun added, because they pointed their sharp weapons toward the officers while the latter attempted to break up the fights.

In Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta Police also broke up a brawl on Sunday morning.

South Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Indra Jafar said his team found dozens of teenagers had gathered and planned a brawl behind the state aviation vocational school (SMK Penerbangan) building in Petogogan.

“They brought sharp weapons and gathered to plan a brawl. We’ve arrested six people, while the rest had fled when our team arrived at the scene,” Indra said.

The teenagers, identified only as MSA, BFL, A, ABS, A and MP, are being detained at Kebayoran Baru Police headquarters.

After arresting them, the police scoured the area and found 12 machetes and sickles, iron blocks, firecrackers and a motorcycle. (vla/wit)
