he Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) launched the official music album for the 18th Asian Games on Friday as part of its promotion of the event, which kicks off on Aug. 18.
The album consists of 13 songs, written to enliven the spirit of the Games. The album is available for purchase at KFC fast-food outlets and for online streaming from Spotify.
Eighteen singers, including, dangdut singer Ike Nurjanah and pop star Ariel Noah, performed the track “Bright as the Sun”. The number of singers, 18, symbolizes the opening date of the Games.
INASGOC chief Erick Thohir said he was happy with the participation of the musicians as it would boost the promotion of the event.
“When we can promote the country’s culture and musicians to the world if not through this event,” he said.
Joshua Matulessy, popularly known as J-Flow, said the album could also act as a form of soft diplomacy for the country, as it could promote the country’s name among the Games’ participants.
J-Flow wrote the song “Dance Tonight” for the album. He specifically dedicated the song to women athletes.
