he Jakarta Police have foiled a trainee pilot’s attempt to bribe his examiner with 0.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine to get his pilot’s license.
“BC is an examiner in a flight school that has the authority to issue pilot’s licenses,” said Jakarta Police narcotics unit chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Jean Calvijn Simanjuntak on Sunday, as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com.
To get a pilot’s license, Jean added, a trainee pilot must graduate from a flight school, apply to an airline and pass several tests: theory, simulator and real flight.
“He plays an important role throughout that process. GS [the pilot] allegedly attempted to bribe BC, so that he could pass all the tests,” he said, noting that BC was a civil servant at the Transportation Ministry’s Air Transportation Directorate General.
BC and GC were arrested at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in East Jakarta on Aug. 2. (vla)
