Asian Games: China tops artistic gymnastics category

China won gold in the men's team final on Wednesday, leaving Japan and South Korea in second and third, respectively.

hina has been sweeping most of the medals in artistic gymnastics at the 2018 Asian Games as it clinched a gold medal in the men's team final on Wednesday, leaving Japan and South Korea in second and third, respectively.

China collected 260.950 points from six disciplines, finishing first in pommel horse, parallel bars, horizontal bars and vault.

Relying on their high caliber gymnasts such as Chaopan Lin, an all-around gold medalist, and Ruoteng Xiao, China outclassed their competitors. 

Japan trailed behind in second place with a total score of 248.550, thanks to their good performance in the floor and ring disciplines.

South Korea came third with a total score of 247.400.

China’s artistic gymnastics team is set to compete in at least eight of the 14 finals in the event. 

After bagging gold in the team artistic gymnastics competition, China strengthen its position as the leader in the medal standings with a total 67 medals, 33 of which are gold medals. 

Indonesia failed to reach the team final as it only finished in 11th place out of 13 countries competing in the preliminary round.
