More than 100 inmates escape Banda Aceh prison

or the second time this year, a riot broke at Banda Aceh Penitentiary in Lambaro, Aceh, on Thursday evening. Around 100 prisoners reportedly escaped.
The riot occurred around 7 p.m. The main cause has yet to be identified but some reports said it was triggered by a fight between prisoners.
“Around 113 prisoners have escaped. The police are running after them right now. Some police are securing the prison,” an official of the penitentiary said as quoted by Antaranews.com.
Reports say the penitentiary houses about 500 convicts and suspects. The prisoners also reportedly broke the penitentiary's windows and set several rooms on fire in a building near the prison.
A similar riot also occurred at the penitentiary in early 2018, with hundreds of prisoners setting fire to an office building inside the area. (foy)
