tate-owned energy firm Pertamina officially launched an oil and gas tourism village in Wonocolo village in Bojonegoro regency, East Java, on Monday.
Said to be the first of its kind in Indonesia, Petroleum Geoheritage Wonocolo highlights traditional mining activities that have been operating for over 100 years.
“The majority of villagers of Wonocolo have been traditionally drawing oil from old wells since over 100 years ago. That's why we cooperated with the Bojonegoro city administration to preserve this area’s unique heritage as an oil and gas tourism village," said Pertamina's Cepu Field manager Agus Amperianto in a press release on Monday.

"Wonocolo offers an attractive destination for those who are interested in discovering more about the history of oil and gas in Indonesia," said Pertamina president director Dwi Soetjipto.
The company also plans to plant 50,000 trees around the old wells as part of its environmental commitments. (kes)
