lanning to visit Bandung alone and don’t feel like splurging on a hotel room? No worries, there are a lot of hostels in the city suitable for solo travelers.
Aside from the lower price of a single bed in a shared room, staying at a hostel can help solo travelers meet like-minded people and form a group to explore the city.
Excited to find out more? Here are some recommended hostels in Bandung.
Garden Hostel, Dago
Located in the upper area of Dago, which is known for its hilly landscape and cool breeze, those who want to stay close to popular shops, malls and hype restaurants can opt to stay in Garden Hostel. Despite the outer wooden features on the second level and furniture that give the hostel a more traditional look, the property features beds that are quite modern. The dormitory is split into two categories: a female dorm with 16 beds and male dorm with 22 beds. Each bed comes with a private socket, bed light, locker and blankets. Both dorms are air-conditioned and there are four bathrooms to a dorm. What’s exciting about this hostel is the fact that they have a swimming pool and an outdoor chill out area, although to be outside, you must put extra layers on as it’s quite cold in Dago.
Starting rates: Rp. 125,000 (US$8.70) (free breakfast included)

Chez Bon Hostel, Jl. Braga
Running through an area that is famous for its pop culture, parks, bazaars and quirky cafes, Jl. Braga is the perfect place to see the hip culture of Bandung. Head to Chez Bon if you want to explore this exciting part of town. The hostel itself gives you a glimpse of Bandung’s colonial-era buildings that can transport you back to the past. They have large, medium and small rooms with a capacity of 16, 6 and 2 beds, respectively. Coffee lovers will surely enjoy staying here as well-known coffee shop Kopi Oey is on the first floor. The hostel also has a rooftop area where travelers can enjoy breakfast while enjoying sweeping views of the city.
Starting rates: Rp 150,000
Pinisi Backpacker, near train station
Those who want to stay near the train station can opt for Pinisi Backpacker. The hostel promotes itself as the perfect hub for those who want to explore Bandung while staying close to the city center. Although the interior of the dorm is basic, other room features seem to be very modern. The dorms are divided into three different parts: a dorm room of mixed bunk beds for eight people with AC and fan and a female dorm that can accommodate four people. The best feature is probably the breakfast, since it offers a wide variety of complimentary Indonesian dishes and unlimited coffee/tea refills for 24 hours.
Starting rates: Rp 120,000 (mix dorm AC and female dorm); Rp 100,000 (mix dorm non-AC)
