hose interested in hopping on board an Italian-themed cruise that serves halal food can consider Costa Asia, a part of international cruise company Costa Cruise, which has been serving Asian passengers since 2006.
In a bid to attract the Southeast Asia market, especially Muslim passengers, the cruise is currently in the process of applying for a halal certificate.
“When it’s ready, we’ll be the first European cruise line that has such a certificate,” said marketing director for Pacific Asia operations, Eunice Lee, during the cruise’s 10th anniversary celebration in Jakarta last week.

One of its ships, Costa Victoria, is set to sail between October 2016 and January 2017 with “Italian at Sea” as its theme. With travel duration starting from three to five nights, its new departure locations will include Singapore, Phuket, Malacca, Langkawi and Penang. The Italian design-decorated ship itself can accommodate over 2,000 people and features five restaurants, 10 bars and Italian-themed entertainment such as the Carnival of Venice.
As part of the Costa Grociere Group, Costa Cruise is the first international cruise company that has made its way to Pacific Asian countries since 2006. Currently there are four out of 15 ships from Costa fleet that are positioned regularly in China and Asia. (kes)
