he Bau Nyale Festival that celebrates the annual appearance of nyale sea worms is set to return this year on Feb. 16-17 at Seger Beach in Kuta Village, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.
According to news agency Antara, some of the reasons to join the festival are the peresean martial art performances, a beach clean-up, a cultural parade, surfing, beach volleyball and selfie competitions, culinary delights and the Putri Mandalika pageant.

“The festival won't be a mere ceremony; it’s an important festival on our tourism calendar to promote Central Lombok regency and the province,” said West Nusa Tenggara Culture and Tourism Agency head Lalu Mohammad Faozal.
Hundreds of thousands of domestic and foreign tourists are expected to attend this year for a festival that has always been a tourism magnet. “We have prepared a budget of Rp 500 million [US$37,467] to conduct the festival,” he said. (wir/kes)
