acations are seen by most as a time to take a break from the hustle and bustle of regular life, but that isn’t the case for everybody. Especially those who consider themselves to be health conscious travelers.
According to a poll conducted by Expedia and Google Consumer Surveys, the most fitness-forward travelers are Australians, while the French are the most likely to not bother keeping up with their fitness regime while on vacation.
Fifty-five percent of Australians qualified exercise as “very or somewhat important” while traveling, and were followed close behind by Americans and Canadians, with 53 percent and 51 percent, respectively.
The most popular form of exercise mentioned was walking, though those from countries like France and Spain are more likely to say that they “don’t work out while they travel”.
The poll surveyed more than more than 7,000 people in seven countries – Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Britain and the United States – to share their travel and fitness habits. The results were then posted on Expedia’s Fitness Breaks page, a website dedicated to sharing fitness itineraries in major cities. (sul/kes)
