akatobi regency in Southeast Sulawesi is set to hold 15 events throughout the rest of 2017 in a bid to promote the place as the leading destination for marine tourism.
As its tagline Surga di Bawah Laut (paradise under the sea) suggests, Wakatobi is a marine national park and home to 942 different species of fish and 750 coral reef species.

Below are some of the upcoming events scheduled between April and October:
April 15 to 20: Anniversary celebration of Wangi Wangi Selatan district.
May 17 to 20: Wowine (women’s) Festival.
June 28 to 30: Tomia Island Festival.
July 13: Caledonian Sky cruise ship visit.
Aug. 10 to 13: Wonderful Sail 2017.
Aug. 28 to 30: Sampea Liya Festival.
Sept. 15 to 18: Barata Kahedupa Festival.
Oct. 19 to 22: Wakatobi Wave.
