T

he Pulesari tourist village is a part of Wonokerto village in Yogyakarta. It is located on the foot of Mount Merapi, 400-900 meters above sea level. Pulesari was designated a traditional tourist village on Nov. 9, 2012.

The village has a strong presence of traditions and culture. Popular tourist attractions include the Adat Pager Bumi ceremony held every Bulan Sapar Rabu Pungkasan (Javanese calendar date), Kubro Siswo, traditional Salak dance, river trekking, and jathilan and karawitan performances.

Pulesari is also known for salak (snake fruit) cultivation activities, in which people can explore salak plantations, harvest the fruit and learn to make salak-based foods such as bakpia, dodol and kolak.

There are 46 homestays in the region with prices ranging from Rp 50,000 for two people to Rp 150,000 for a group of 10.

Package deals are also available at prices ranging from Rp 50,000 to Rp 265,000. (asw)
