Tourism Ministry issues new policies for international airlines

uring a discussion about Aviation’s 3Ss (Safety, Security, Service) and 1C (Compliance) at Kota Kasablanka Mall in Jakarta on May 7, Director General of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transportation Agus Santoso also talked about international airlines traveling to 10 priority tourist destinations.

“We’ll make it easy for international airlines to fly to 10 priority destinations. We will also give them the opportunity to increase their flight frequency from countries where most of the tourists come from Japan, Australia, Taiwan, the United States, Russia, Germany, the Netherlands, England, Malaysia, South Korea and Middle Eastern countries,” he explained.

Moreover, Santoso also mentioned the four policies that supported tourism development.

The first policy is improving airport and seaport infrastructure at tourist destinations, which included easing regulations on entry permits for cruise ships. 

A second policy outlines the ministry's effort to push national airlines and shipping companies to serve routes to tourist destinations. The third policy is to improve bilateral aviation partnerships with popular inbound countries through airports as part of the ASEAN Open Skies agreement. The fourth policy is to increase involvement with the private sector in providing transportation that meets safety and comfort standards. (asw)
