ndonesia is going to welcome a very special guest at the end of June. The 44th United States president Barack Obama is going to pay a visit to the country to open the 4th Indonesian Diaspora Congress initiated by Indonesia Diaspora Network Global (IDNG) in Jakarta.

Obama will be accompanied by his wife, Michelle, and their two daughters, Malia and Sasha. The former First Family arrived on Friday and is scheduled to stay in the country until early July.

“We happily welcome […] Barack Obama who will go on a vacation to three destinations, namely Bali, Jakarta and Yogyakarta,” said Tourism Minister Arief Yahya.

Arief says the visit is expected to boost Indonesian tourism in the US and Europe, and will solidify Bali’s position as the World’s Best Destination 2017, according to TripAdvisor.

Obama’s visit to the Joglosemar (Yogyakarta, Surakarta and Semarang in Central Java) area is expected to promote the iconic Borobudur Temple, which has been included in the ministry’s 10 New Bali program. (kes)
