he tourism department of Sleman regency, Yogyakarta, together with Sleman Regency Tourist Village Communication Forum, will hold a motorcycle rally on July 30 called Tour de Merapi (TDM).
TDM is biannual and is the only touring event in Yogyakarta that uses motorcycles. This year’s event theme will be "Ayo ke Desa Wisata, Jelajahi Keunikan Potensi Wisata dan Budaya Sleman” (Lets’s go to tourist villages and explore Sleman’s unique culture and tourism potential).

The race only allows two-seater 250 cc motorcycles to sign up for the event. This year, the target is 500 motorcycles or 1,000 participants. The registration fee is Rp 125,000 (US$9.39) per motorcycle.
Registration will be open from July 4 to 24 and can be done at the Sleman Tourism Department office (phone: 0274 869613), TIC Malioboro, Kaliurang and the select tourist villages: Pentingsari, Pulesari, Pancoh, Dome House, Brayut, Tanjung, Sidoakur, Grogol, Gampong and Tebing Breksi Park.
The starting point is at Sleman Provincial Administration field, while the finishing line is at Telogo Putri Park, Kaliurang. During the race, participants will pass through Dome House, Lava Bantal, Ketingan Tourist Village, Sidoakur Tourist Village, Minapadi Cibuk Kidul Tourist Village, Tlatar Tourist Village, Nanggring Tourist Village, Pancoh Tourist Village and Tlogo Putri, Kaliurang.
