The 1st Aceh International Halal Food Festival (AIHFF) 2017 has been officially launched on Aug. 18 at Taman Sari Banda Aceh.
The opening ceremony was attended by Banda Aceh Mayor Aminullah Usman and Aceh Tourism Agency head Reza Pahlevi.
The event also hosted a dance performance by Sanggar Geunaseh and the handover ceremony of halal certificates to several hotels and industries in Aceh.
“Please enjoy Acehnese food and make Aceh the best destination for halal tourism in the world,” said the mayor.
Slated to run until Aug. 20, the festivel features 80 tenants and interesting activities, such as Khanduri Leumang, Halal Cooking Competition, Merdeka Kita Ngopi-Ngopi Bareng Dirgahayu 72 RI and Bu Leukat decorating competition.
“There’ll be Kanduri Raya, MURI record-breaking show of 1,000 men carrying Idang Talam, Khanduri sie reuboh and satay,” added Reza.
Various traditional and international dishes from other countries, such as Malaysia, Japan, Thailand, Turkey and Italy, are also showcased at the event.
Art and music performances from Sanggar Geunaseh, Seuramoe Reggae, HSP Acoustic and singer Teddy Adhitya who will perform on the closing night are also scheduled to entertain visitors.
Below is the schedule for Aceh International Halal Food Festival 2017:
Saturday, Aug. 19
10 a.m. - IMTGT Coffee Meeting & Business Meeting (Halal Food, Certification & Halal Tourism; Insight from Indonesia, Malaysia & Thailand).
2 p.m. - Halal Cooking Competition with participants from IKABOGA and PKK Aceh.
8 p.m. - Merdeka Kita Ngopi – Ngopi Bareng Dirgahayu 72 RI (free coffee for visitors).
Sunday, Aug. 20
8 a.m. - Bu Leukat decorating competition.
10 a.m. - Khanduri Raya and MURI record-breaking show.
4 p.m. - Khanduri sie reuboh and satay.
8 p.m. - Closing ceremony and prize-giving event. (kes)
