strong>Indonesia took home the award for destination of the year 2017 Asia Pacific category at the 28thannual TTG Travel Awards 2017 that was held in Bangkok on Sept. 28.

Previous winners in this category include three-time winner Thailand and two-time winner Singapore.

“Thank you TTG, we are proud with this award,” said tourism minister Arief Yahya who attended gala dinner.

The Wonderful Indonesia: The Journey to a Wonderful Indonesia video that took home two awards at the UNWTO Video Competition was also being showcased before of the 500 guests as Arief descended the stage after receiving the award.

Moreover, Panorama Tour and Ritz Carlton Jakarta also took home the award for best travel agency in Indonesia and best city hotel categories, respectively.

Arief also received the honor to present the Travel Hall of Fame category for those who have won the TTG Travel Awards 10 times. 

TTG that stands for Travel Trade Gazette is a travel trade publication that was launched in 1953. 

Meanwhile, its TTG Travel Awards event has been held annually since 1989 by TTG Asia with the support from TTG India, TTG China, TTG Mice, TTG Associations, TTC BT Mice China and TTG Asia Luxury. The awards comprise of four categories: Travel supplier, travel agency, outstanding achievement and travel hall of fame. (asw)
