The new revenue approach is divided into three programs: Airport big data, airport e-commerce and airport e-payment.
tate-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura II (AP II) is shifting its digital strategy from focusing on improving customer service and work efficiency to business enhancement.
“The compant is entering the new business enhancement phase that aims to create new revenue stream, which is part of Angkasa Pura II’s adjacent portfolio category,” said PT AP II president director Muhammad Awaluddin.
The new revenue approach is divided into three programs: Airport big data, airport e-commerce and airport e-payment.
One of the tools in the airport big data is the Indonesia Airports application, which will allow passengers to have their e-boarding pass saved in the app
“Garuda Indonesia is the first [to implement the program] and other airlines will follow,” said Awaluddin.
As of now, the app is still in the improvement stage with a trial project to be conducted in the early weeks of December this year and is expected to be ready by the first quarter of 2018.

The next program is airport e-payment, which is part of the National Non-Cash Movement (GNNT).
“Currently, all Peripuls and Family Mart shops located in Soekarno-Hatta International Airport accept e-money payment from Telkomsel Cash, [Go-Jek’s] Go-Pay and others,” he explained.
Awaluddin said the airport e-payment system is set to be implemented in AP II’s 800 tenants and outlets.
For airport e-commerce, AP II partners up with the app-based transportation company Grab in providing special booths for Grab. This new service will be available starting Oct. 23 at terminals 1A, 1B and 1C, terminals 2D and 2F and Terminal 3’s domestic and international gates.
Each booth is said to have an operator who will help and educate customers about online booking through the GrabNow application.
Angkasa Pura's Soekarno-Hatta communications manager, Dewandono Prasetyo Nugroho, said that only drivers who have registered with the Police Cooperative (Inkoppol) would be permitted to operate at the airport.
These drivers need to own a SIM A driver’s license and wear a special uniform. Their cars will also have a special Soekarno-Hatta Airport sticker and already undergone a special test. (kes)
