A

total of 411 couples from all ages took part in Wonderful Indonesia Dance Festival that was held on Nov. 24 – 25 at Oemanu Kefamenanu Field, North Central Timor (TTU), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

“The number of visitors on the first day was around 1,750 people while the number of participants was 37 couples from Timor Leste and the rest came from North Central Timor, South Central Timor, Belu and Malaka,” said TTU Deputy Regent Aloysious Kobes.

It was the first time the event was being held in TTU. There were two categories being competed at the event: Public and master. Out of the 411 participants, 350 pairs competed in the public category and 61 pairs competed in the master category.

Songs namely “Fasepika” from Kepa, “Portu”, “Timor” and “Tetum” from Malaka accompanied the competition.

By night, all of the guests were invited to do the Tebe dance together with traditional song Kefa playing in the background.

TTU is a cross-border area that is located close to Oecusse District and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. TTU is one of tourist destinations where one of its popular attractions is the 30-meter demarcation line that separates two countries.

Around the demarcation line, there’s a market where people from neighboring countries like to shop. (asw)
