or the upcoming Asian Games 2018, Bangka Belitung provincial administration is going to offer tour packages to the participants of the event.

For this tour packages, Bangka Belitung partners up with several parties, such as South Sumatra Culture and Tourism Agency, Association of Travel Sales Indonesia (ASATI) and Association of Indonesian Tour and Travel Agencies (ASITA).

“This international sports competition should be utilized since thousands of foreign participants are coming to South Sumatra. Tourism in Bangka Belitung should be sold to participants who come from 45 different countries,” said Bangka Belitung Culture and Tourism Agency head, Rivai.

“We don’t have a specific target, however 6,000 participants of Asian Games will be in Palembang and I hope 10 percent of them will visit Bangka Belitung through these packages,” added the agency's head of promotion Achmad Fajri.

Bangka Belitung has several popular tourist attractions such as Tanjung Kelayang Beach. This white sand beach has been listed as a Special Economic Zone (KEK) by the government.

It also boasts Tanjung Tinggi Beach, made popular by the movie Laskar Pelangi (Rainbow Troops), Lengkuas Island, Berahu Hill, Kaolin Lake, Andrea Hirata Word Museum, Batu Belimbing in Toboali, Batu Perahu Beach and Toboali Castle.

Meanwhile Pangkal Pinang, the capital city of the province, is known for its delicious dishes such as hoklopan (sweet pancakes) and lempah kuning. (kes)
