n response to the recent volcanic activity at Mount Agung in Karangasem regency, the Bali Hotels Association is reportedly working hand-in-hand with tourism stakeholders to take care of guests if the mountain erupts.
The association’s chairman Ricky Putra told The Jakarta Post via telephone that they had held meetings with the government, tourism stakeholders as well as other parties, including airport authorities, to prepare an evacuation strategy and services to help guests if Mt. Ricky said the level-four warning status only applied to within an 8- to 10-kilometer radius of Mt. Agung’s crater, or only 2 percent of the Island of the Gods.
Ricky explained that in the past three months, everything was running well in Bali, except for the two-day closure of Ngurah Rai International Airport because of volcanic ash clouds.
In regard to the danger area, Ricky added that the government had handled the situation well. (kes)
