ndonesia is set to participate as a guest country at the International Congress of Aesthetics & Spa exhibition in Paris on April 7-9.

Participating in the event for the very first time, the Tourism Ministry, in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy in Paris and the Visit Indonesia Tourism Officer (VITO), is seeking to introduce and promote the richness of Indonesian spa at the exhibition, which boasts 200 exhibitors and 28,000 visitors.

According to kompas.com, the country will highlight "Indonesia as a spa and wellness destination" at its 56-square-meter booth and feature traditional as well as modern spa scenes from Java and Bali.

Additionally, the booth is said to feature jamu (traditional herbal drinks), hotels and tour agents and operators that promote spa and destination packages in Indonesia and a coffee corner.

As a guest country, Indonesia will reportedly be given the opportunity to conduct workshops on body painting and Javanese and Balinese spas at the main stage.

The United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Russia are among Indonesia’s top five European markets for tourism. Statistics show that the visitor market value of these countries reached more than US$ 1 million, with an average stay of almost two weeks.

According to the Tourism Ministry's data, France serves as one of its focus markets. In 2016, 250,921 French tourists visited Indonesia, which is a growth of up to 19.79 percent compared to previous year.

Last year, the figure increased by up to 7.2 percent to 268,989 visitors. (kes)
