The Maybank Bali Marathon (MBM) consists of a full marathon (42.195 km), a half marathon (21.0975 km), a 10K, and a 5K for disabled runners, as well as a children's sprint category.
The seventh installment of the Maybank Bali Marathon (MBM) is set to take place on Sept. 9 in Gianyar, Bali.
Maybank Indonesia president director Taswin Zakaria said in a press conference on Tuesday that this year the annual marathon was set to gather 10,749 participants, an increase of 12.9 percent compared to last year’s 9,367 participants.
Taswin explained that they limited the number of participants based on the track capacity, safety and comfort.
“Safety and comfort are our priorities,” he said.

The marathon is scheduled to start and end at Bali Safari and Marine Park. Prior to the competition, participants can collect the race pack at Taman Bhagawan in Nusa Dua on Sept. 7 and 8.
The categories in the event are a full marathon (42.195 km), a half marathon (21.0975 km), a 10K, a 5K for disabled runners, as well as a children's sprint category.
Taswin added that the Bali Marathon combined athletic and aesthetic qualities as well as comfort, making it a fun event for first-timers.
First held in 2012, the Maybank Bali Marathon has become an official qualifying race for the Boston Marathon. Each year, the event welcomes participants from various countries, including Kenya, Ethiopia, the United States, Australia as well as other Asian countries. (wng)
