arvard University is ranked first in a study that lists universities around the world based on their alumni who are now billionaires.

Harvard alumni includes Barack Obama as well as John F. Kennedy, who ended up as presidents of the US. Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates both attended Harvard, although did not complete their educations, but are now rich through their respective businesses, Facebook and Microsoft.

Released by global intelligence consultant WealthInsight and Elite Traveler magazine, the list continues with the University of Pennsylvania, Stanford University, Oxford University and the University of California, Berkeley, in the second to fifth spots, respectively. The US dominates the list, with 31 of their universities out of the 50 that were taken into account.

"The US has more billionaires than any country in the world, so it's no surprise if you look at Ivy League universities on this list," said WealthInsight head Oliver Williams as reported by kompas.com on Friday.

A total of six British universities also rank on the list, including Cambridge University, the University of London, the London School of Economics and Manchester University. (kha/kes)
