n international expo on energy and engineering industry, held from Sept. 18 to 21 at Jakarta International Expo, aims to gather key players across the industries to build networks to support the government’s national development plans.

The government aims to expand sustainable infrastructure development across the country, enforcing regulations to support national development plans. The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry has been implementing programs to achieve the equal distribution of energy services.

More parties and relevant players, however, are needed to support development planning that can also bring social, economic and environmental benefits in the long term.

Iqbal Mandala Putra of the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry (second left) and Endress+Hauser president director Henry Chia (right) about the importance of an energy and engineering expo that can gather key players across industries, associations and governmental organizations

PT Pamerindo Indonesia is set to hold an international expo in Jakarta, covering the mining, oil and gas, construction, concrete material, and the maritime industries. The expo, called the Energy & Engineering Indonesia Shows, seeks to gather important players in the energy and engineering industries so they can advance development in Indonesia.

"The Energy & Engineering Indonesia expo can be a platform to gather key players, associations, and governmental institutions to showcase their preparedness in supporting the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals,” says Maysia Stephanie, the event director at Pamerindo Indonesia, highlighting that it will ensure sustainable economic development in the energy and engineering industries.

Held from Sept.18 to 21 at Jakarta International Expo, the event is expected to boost the competitiveness of Indonesia in the international market. Guests can visit the expo daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The expo receives solid support from many governmental and private organizations. Among them are the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, the Indonesian Mining Services Association (Aspindo), the Australian Mining Chamber (AUSMINCHAM), the Bali International Arbitration & Mediation Center (BIAMC), the Indonesian Shipbuilding Association (Iperindo), the Djakarta Mining Club, Women in Mining & Energy, Indonesia Precast and Prestressed Concrete Companies Association (AP3I), Indonesia Society of Civil and Structural Engineers (HAKI), the Indonesia Lightweight Concrete Association (PROBERINDO), and PT Promindo Makmur Abadi.

Endress+Hauser, an industrial equipment supplier company participating in the event, seeks potential partnerships during the expo. "One of our targets of using automation is to increase efficiency in energy and material resources and to improve product quality,” says Henry Chia, the president director at Endress+Hauser. “With 1 percent increase in efficiency, a company can save up to billions of rupiah each year. That’s why we keep looking for the latest technology and new partners to upgrade our technology.”

Sustainable development is a central topic of the conversation in the construction industry. A company needs to spend a lot of money in the beginning, but the long-term investment will pay off in the end, says Bowo Pangarso, the COO at PT Sacindo Machinery.

“In this event, we’ll have the opportunity to connect with other key players and build larger networks,” Bowo says. “We can also see what our competitors are doing in terms of the sustainable development investment and technology advancement.”

In Indonesia, not many companies have adopted the sustainable development goals like in developed countries, says Hari Nugraha Nurjaman, the head of the Indonesian Association of Precast and Prestressed Engineers (IAPPI). However, in the past 10 years, the industry has become so highly competitive that companies have to start adopting sustainable development goals in their operations.
