Hermitage takes you back to 1920s

H

ave you ever wondered what Jakarta looked like in the early part of the 20th century? If we were to search for documentation of the city’s blueprints from that era, it might be hard to find anything.

In the middle of Jakarta’s most prestigious district, Menteng, stands a stunning neoclassical building that is like a gem. The Hermitage, a Tribute Portfolio hotel, is the very historical evidence and heritage that we should preserve.

The antique feel of the hotel has been preserved, as the building is listed as cultural heritage by Jakarta’s local government. An art deco style and neoclassical design blends with the original look of the building, which dates back to 1923, originally operating as The Telefoongebouw, a Dutch telecommunications office. The three-story main building includes a lobby, restaurants and function rooms.

Back then, the building was also used by the Education and Culture Ministry, as well as the Soekarno Education Foundation, before being managed by PT Menteng Heritage Realty in cooperation with Marriott International. The man behind every single detail of the Hermitage Jakarta is Jasin Tedjasukmana, an Indonesian architect.

The Hermitage hotel features 90 elegant guest rooms and suites, combined with exclusive guest amenities, sumptuous furniture and genuine and plush bedding textiles, giving the hotel a truly different atmosphere in the middle of Jakarta.

Under the Marriott Premium Distinctive brand, the Hermitage Jakarta was the first Tribute Portfolio hotel to open in Southeast Asia. As a Tribute Portfolio hotel, the Hermitage promises guests a vibrant social scene at its dining venue.

Four well-appointed dining and bar venues are set in the hotel, ranging from the classy L’Avenue Restaurant and the Hermitage lounge with a cigar room, to the Courtyard Café with its casual atmosphere, or La Vue, an urban style bar located at the rooftop, boasting an unobstructed 360-degree panoramic view of Jakarta.

The hotel is also home to international and authentic Indonesian cuisines and fusion food, which are prepared wholeheartedly by the chef, delivered with utmost sincerity onto your plate.

.

The Hermitage also offers guests an exceptional lifestyle experience with a gym and swimming pool on the rooftop. For relaxation and meditation, the hotel features a spa operator with its finest body relaxation programs.

Discover and travel to various local attractions at the Hermitage’s surrounding properties, such as the antique art market on Jl. Surabaya, which is conveniently connected to governmental offices, embassies and world-class shopping malls.

Hold your events at the colonial-style building, featuring four meeting rooms, a no-pillar ballroom and a foyer, with various room options and sizes that bask in natural light by day and are illuminated by an exquisite chandelier in the evening to bring out a unique ambience to your gatherings.

Visit, stay or dine at the Hermitage and let it take you across time. Embrace the experience of living in the early 20th century.
