The prolonged COVID-19 pandemic had led to Indonesia facing economic woes. To restore the economy, the government of Indonesia has implemented the Adaptation to New Habits (AKB) heath protocols.

Dr. Hermawan Saputra, a specialist in community health issues, explained, “Almost all sectors have been opened since the implementation of the AKB amid the ongoing pandemic.”

“Up to now,Indonesia has seena rising trend in the spread of coronavirus, with the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases recorded atup to 100,000,” he said.

He added, “Slowly but surely, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has continued to rise. We have also seen office buildings become new clusters of infection. That’s why the public should adhere to the health protocols set by the government and plan well for themselves and their family.”

According to a 2016 survey by Statistics Indonesia (BPS), financial planning has yet to become a main priority when it comes to monthly spending among Indonesian people, with allocations for health accounting for only 2.4 percent of their salary. Ideally, 10 percent of one’s salary should be set aside for health expensesat a minimum.

A survey conducted by Healthcare Medical Insurance ResearchKantar X AIAfromDecember 2019 to Jan. 20, 2020confirmed the above findings. The survey results show that sixin 10 Indonesian people are worried that they will be unable to pay their hospital bills should they be hospitalized because of a serious illness, whilesevenin 10 people prefer private hospitals, citingcomfort as the reason, which are certainly very costly.

In response to the worrying health situation facingIndonesian families, PT AIA Financial (AIA) has once again made aninnovation by rolling out its newest health protection product, Premier Hospital & Surgical Extra (PHS Extra).

PHS Extra, provided by the leading and most trusted life insurance company in Indonesia,is an expansion of Premier Hospital & Surgical, which has become AIA’s top product.

PHS Extra has been designedto offer a variety of new features at affordable prices, providing benefits such asaccess to world-class healthcare facilities, comfort during treatment, includinga private bedroom and bathroom, and comes complete with Personal Medical Management thanks to a collaboration with Medix.

To roll out PHS Extra, AIA has teamed up with AIA’s new brand ambassadors, celebrity couple Christian Sugiano and Titi Kamas, who will support AIA to realize its commitment to help millions of Indonesian families live healthier, longer and better lives.

Christian, the new AIA ambassador, said, “Apart from working in the entertainment industry, we both own and run a business. In the phase of the new health protocols, we have begun to conduct activities outside the house for working purposes, so I hope I can do my job peacefully and avoid the risk [of infection] when I go home to meet my family. For this reason, we really appreciate the step AIA has taken to launch a heath protection product that offers world class service at affordable prices.”

Titi added, “We have prepared a variety of financial programs to allow our children to achieve their ambitions in the future. However, unexpected and high health expense can frequently pose a challenge. I also long for comfort when we need health care. PHS EXTRA provides a solution for Indonesian families.Especially amid the ongoing pandemic, it is important to be protected and make financial plans, in addition, of course, to staying physically and mentally healthy.”

Meanwhile, AIA president director Sainthan Satyamoorthy said, “Based on AIA’s commitment to helping millions of Indonesian families live healthier, longer and better lives, AIA continues to offer a range of product and service innovations, including PHS Extra, to provide peace of mind and health protection for our customers, particularly amid the COVID-19 pandemic.”

“People are now in need of comprehensive health protection, not only for themselves but also for their beloved family, bearing in mind that people face greater health risks during the COVID-19 pandemic compared to previous times.”

AIA chief marketing officer Lim Chet Ming said, “With affordable premiums, PHS Extra provides higher protection, with a maximum total limit of up to Rp 65 billion. This product ensures comfort during treatment, such as a private bedroom and bathroom, and the accompaniment of medical specialists, as well as critical disease rehabilitation and treatment for various diseases including tropical diseases.”

He continued, “Through PHS Extra, AIA provides protection with world-class health services to Indonesian families. This way, families can prepare fortheir medical expenses, without disrupting their finances.”

For additional comfort, PHS Extra can be obtained without a face-to-face meeting with a sales representativevia AIA DigiBuy.

Customers can communicate with sales representatives through video call, with the process conducted through an Interactive Point of Sales (iPos) platform.

A video record of the customer’s approval of the product and the benefits of the insurance purchased is one of the prerequisites customers have to meet under the sales system. If they agree, then customers can send a photo of themselves and their ID card and provide their signature through an e-sign form.
