A

s internet use in Indonesia has drastically increased throughout all levels of society in recent times, the Houston, United States-based TravelWifi has expanded its presence to Indonesia, offering the cardless cloudSim technology for customers.

Through cloudSim, TravelWifi is targeting urban internet users who do not have fiber optic coverage, along with high-mobility internet users who are always on the go.

TravelWifi Indonesia CEO Firman Raditya said that the year 2020 was a turning point for the internet industry’s business model, from offering internet solutions to international travelers to focusing on domestic internet usage.

“The pandemic has accelerated the penetration of domestic internet use as every aspect of life has shifted from offline to online,” he said in a statement.

TravelWifi’s cloudSim technology allows user to connect to the internet networks of every provider in 140 countries that have worked with the company, such as Telkomsel, XL, Indosat and Smartfren for Indonesia; AT&T, Vodafone and T-Mobile in the United States; Softbank and Docomo in Japan; as well as Singtel and Starhub in Singapore.

“This collaboration with multiple providers allows for a network with no blank spots. Another benefit is that the TravelWifi modem can be carried anywhere,” Firman explained, adding that the cloudSim technology also allowed for remote and instantaneous network repair as it did not require a physical check.

Indonesian internet users can get their hands on a TravelWifi modem simply by paying a deposit and purchasing data plans as needed. The deposit will be returned in its entirety when the consumer returns the modem.

At the same time, TravelWifi has also opened opportunities for users to become partners as distributors, resellers or affiliates, allowing them to gain additional income.
