tiket.com opens its first vaccination center for 18-plus group in Jakarta

he pioneer Online Travel Agent (OTA) in Indonesia, tiket.com, has officially inaugurated its first vaccination center in Jakarta. The center aims to provide vaccines for the public over the age of 18, for the pre-elderly bracket of 50 to 59 years of age and for workers in the tourism and creative economy industry. 

Located at Dorm Hall 35 on the first floor of St. Carolus Hospital, Salemba Jakarta, the vaccination center is also the first center to offer vaccination for the general public aged 18 and above. Participants can register starting June 11 through the ticket To Do product on the tiket.com app.

The inauguration of tiket.com’s vaccination center was attended by Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga S. Uno, Acting Director-General of Disease Prevention and Control for the Health Ministry, Dr. Maxi Rein Rondonuwu and the board of directors of tiket.com and LOKET, as the strategic partner of tiket.com in developing the center.

Sandiaga expressed his appreciation for the opening of the vaccination center. Noting that the tourism and creative economy sector had yet to achieve the government’s target, currently standing below 5 percent.

“We hope that in the Jakarta province, everybody will promote, take part in and accelerate the vaccination program. Targeting 12,000 vaccine recipients in 13 days, I would like to invite more parties to collaborate so that we can achieve herd immunity in the tourism and creative economy industry. Let’s rise and win the fight against COVID-19, and together we can do it!”

In his opening remarks the Acting Director General of Disease Prevention and Control for the Health Ministry, Dr. Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, mentioned that Jakarta had started its vaccination drive for the 18-plus age group as a way to commemorate the city’s anniversary. Previously, it had prioritized the elderly as well as public workers.

“We are in this fight together, and our friends at tiket.com and LOKET can help. In accordance with the President’s request, we will have to step up our vaccination program in the Greater Jakarta area until July. Overall, tiket.com and LOKET can help,” he said.

Gaery Undarsa, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of tiket.com, said the vaccination center was part of tiket.com’s commitment to supporting the acceleration of the government’s national vaccination program.

“We hope the center will reach more people in every part of society and in every age group in order to achieve herd immunity. We would like to thank the Health Ministry, the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, and the Jakarta provincial government for their trust and support so that we can build a properly equipped center with a range of facilities along with our partner LOKET,” he said.

During a three month period, approximately 12,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines will be given in two phases. The first shot being administered from June 14th to 26th and the second shot from September 13th to 26th.

“We hope that the vaccination center can provide added value and have a positive impact on the national vaccination program. As the pioneer OTA in Indonesia, we too would like to return to the golden era of national tourism. Therefore, one of the key steps is to support the national vaccination program within our capacity and capabilities,” Gaery concluded.
