ank Digital BCA (BCA Digital) has announced that it will officially release the "blu" digital bank platform application for Android users on the Google Play Store on July 2.

The blu mobile app is built as part of the branchless digital bank ecosystem by BCA that can be accessed anytime and anywhere. blu is also integrated with all BCA-owned infrastructure, such as call centers and ATM networks. The blu mobile app will also be coming to the Apple App Store soon.

With the launch of blu, BCA Digital offers an optimal and enjoyable banking experience with a fresher look for the younger generation, which us accustomed to transacting digitally. “blu is built to be the next-generation bank for better control of managing financial matters for customers,” said Lanny Budiati, president of BCA Digital.

“We are here to grow with young Indonesians. We want blu to become an enabler platform to help young Indonesians manage their personal finances optimally, including how to save and manage their daily cash flow efficiently,” said Lanny. “In the trial phase, we received many positive responses from the customers. We’re hoping that in the future, blu will be the most preferred mobile banking app among Indonesian people,” she added.

From these missions, blu provides many innovative features inside the mobile app. Starting from the online bank account opening with bluAccount, and the ability to manage budgeting with 10 saving accounts of bluSaving. These will ease customers to separate their financial income based on their individual needs. Also included are innovative features such as bluGether, where customers could utilize their saving account functions just like a treasurer account, as well as bluDeposit for easier deposit top-up.

From bill payments, e-wallet top-ups, to data package purchase, all payment types can be done in the blu mobile app. blu customers can also make transfers to other banks for free, and make deposits and withdrawals at all BCA ATMs in Indonesia for free, thanks to the solid integration among all BCA infrastructure. BCA Digital targets to attract hundreds of thousands of new blu customers throughout 2021.

To serve new customers, BCA Digital formed “haloblu”, a reliable call center team to answer all questions and support prospective customers with the well-known service quality by BCA customers, anytime and anywhere.

The growth potential for the digital bank sector in Indonesia is still very high. Based on reports from Google, Temasek and Bain & Company in 2019, as many as 92 million people have never even accessed banks and financial services offered (unbanked).

“The presence of blu as a digital bank will be a good solution to serve the unbanked population in Indonesia. One reason is that almost all (94 percent) of the population aged 16-64 years in this country already have a smartphone. For that, they can rely on digital banks such as blu to transact online, thereby reducing the difficulty of access to reach physical branch offices," added Lanny.

BCA Digital is developing an integrated digital ecosystem infrastructure that supports customer’s operational security and convenience in transactions. “In this case, building a digital ecosystem is our top priority, because being digital means being able to connect as many people as possible by providing the best experience and convenience. Therefore, broad and smooth connectivity is a must,” said Iman Sentosa, director of IT and operations at BCA Digital.
